On Thursday morning, April 13, 2023, Ms. Jean and Ms. Magz set off for Wuwei City. The purpose of their visit is to observe the lesson of Wuwei’s resident foreign teachers, Ms. Grace and Mr. Cannie, and to have academic discussions about the following topics: Teaching Reading, Teaching Writing, Classroom Management, and Motivation in the teaching–learning process.
Ms. Grace’s class with Year 1 class 6 was from 16:25 – 17:10. Ms. Jean, Mr. Cannie, and Ms. Magz observed the class. The topic was “Festivals and Customs.” During the lesson, it was evident that the teacher was well–prepared. Students behaved well and did their best to be active in class. Overall, the lesson objectives were met.
On the morning of Friday, April 14, 2023, at 09:15, the academic discussions took place on the 5th floor of the administration building of Wuwei No. 1 High School, where the IEP office is located.
Each foreign teacher discussed their topics efficiently and effectively. Ms. Magz discussed Effective Strategies for Teaching Reading to High school students. Mr. Cannie’s topic was teaching Writing, Ms. Jean’s was about Classroom Management, and Ms. Grace’s was about Motivation in the teaching–learning process.
It was refreshing for everyone because they were able to share their experiences in the classroom. The teachers can relate to the topics; thus, it was more authentic.
The session was almost 3 hours, but it ended with smiles on their faces, knowing that they could use the new knowledge they learned from it.
