We would be organising a speech contest at our IEP partner school in Hefei (the Affiliated High School of the Hefei University of Technology) on the 10th of June 2009.
This is a challenging speech contest aimed at discovering ¡°hidden gems¡± within the school and to provide an opportunity for English enthusiasts to express themselves on the stage. The contest targets the Year 1 classes and invites 2 representatives from each class to participate. A number of topics are given to the contestants one month beforehand in order to prepare the speech. The top 5 winners are awarded a prize, sponsored by C Win.
In the process of the contest, each participant has to pass 2 rounds:
1. Speech Presentation
2. Questions and Answers by the Judges
The school English teachers and IEP Department teachers are to guide the contestants in composing and rehearsing the performances. Thus, students will learn how to present their ideas in a logical sequence, increase the confidence and develop public speaking skills.
On the day of the Contest other performances will be arranged. The Contest will be hosted by the IEP Class representatives.
